- We LOVE working with teachers and children. Whether it's an AUTHOR VISIT performing poetry and sharing stories about ideas that inspire our writing or a WRITERS IN RESIDENCE program with extended time in individual classrooms sparking and developing ideas that students turn into finished pieces, we are enthusiastic supporters of writers of all ages!

- Educators for over 30 years, Charley and Joanele have extensive experience in planning and delivering presentations that are engaging, memorable, and meaningful experiences for teachers, students, and parents. Whether it's a daylong AUTHOR VISIT or an extended WRITER IN RESIDENCE program, or leading a staff on the journey of shifting mindset toward enabling students to take ownership and control of their learning through UNIVERSAL DESIGN FOR LEARNING, Charley and Joanele will motivate you and your students!

- An experienced and successful teacher, curriculum director, and writer, Joanele has impacted the lives of thousands of students and teachers through her work. She understands that the best teaching is intentionally designed and the best writing is authentic and based in experience. Joanele has been a professional trainer for teachers and administrators and has taught at youth writing camps and served as an instructor with the Ohio Writing Project.

- An accomplished elementary teacher and reading specialist for over 30 years, Charley has been performing school and library visits for almost 20 years all over the U.S. His entertaining style captivates students and details his day as a writer along with strategies for students to develop their ideas into finished pieces. A true “performance poet” Charley captures and holds students’ attention and leaves them eager to write. Charley has served as a formal mentor to many new educators and an instructor with the Ohio Writing Project.

AUTHOR VISIT
Energized and interactive, Charley performs his poetry and shares details of his day as a writer with students. A natural storyteller, Charley inspires students to understand that Ideas are Everywhere and to know that their ideas are worth capturing and writing about.
If an in-person visit seems cost-prohibitive or just doesn't work with your schedule, we can arrange a Skype or Zoom virtual visit with your students! It's not the same as being there, but you and your students will have a chance to talk with an author!
We also have many ideas for using your existing budget to cover costs of an author visit or family engagement night and we are always willing to work with your budget!
WRITER IN RESIDENCE
Charley and Joanele visit individual classrooms as a follow-up to an AUTHOR VISIT to work directly with your students, leading them through the writing process to brainstorm and develop their own unique ideas into pieces that are ready to take to the next level. We believe this is the ultimate experience if you really want to move your students' authentic writing to the next level!
UNIVERSAL DESIGN FOR LEARNING (UDL)
As teachers, Charley and Joanele were part of a highly successful team-taught, fully-inclusive, multiage classroom in a small rural school. As experienced educational consultants, they have worked with teams of teachers to understand the importance of designing educational experiences to meet the learning needs of ALL students. Engaging and interactive professional development that will lead to sustainable changes in teaching and learning for everyone in the school setting! Teachers and students alike will have a renewed energy and enthusiasm when they understand the significance of UDL!
